General Information

Steel Challenge competitions are shot in the 200m Pistol Range.

Club guns and ammunition available for unlicensed members that have completed rimfire competency bring $20 to cover hire fees and ammunition.

Targets

Steel Challenge is a speed shooting competition that consists of two stages, each with five steel plates.  One plate is the 'Stop Plate' and must be hit last, the other plates may be hit in any order, a 3 second penalty is applied for any of those plates not hit before the stop plate is hit.

Shooters will attempt five separately timed strings with the worst time being discarded and the other four added together to form their score.

Ammunition Required

Rimfire 22LR. It is recommended that you bring at least 100 rounds of ammunition.

Night Shoot Requirements

There are no nighttime restriction on rimfire firearms.

Additional Equipment Required

This competition requires the use of multiple magazines (5) 

No Holsters are required in the Rimfire course of fire but can be worn for safe storage on UNLOADED handguns.

Maximum Attendance

The attendance limit for this competition will be 36 competitors.

Unlicensed Members
Unlicensed SSAA Brisbane Pistol Section members may participate in this competition under these conditions:

1. Competency: They must be signed off as competent with rimfire Semi-Auto, and display this competency to the Shoot Captain at sign-on.
2. Supervision:
   • A licensed member will act as their supervisor.
   • The club will provide the firearm and ammunition to be used ($20 fee).

Visitors
Members may bring visitors (one visitor per member) to see the shoot at no cost.

Visitors will be required to sign the range register as non-shooting.
