Participation Requirements

The participation requirement applies to the financial year and it is the responsibility of the individual licence holder to inform the club of his/her actual participation by the 28th July each year. Failure to do so will result in the member’s details being forwarded to the firearms branch for their action. The following is only a guide for the participation requirement

NOTE: When you renew your licence you will need to provice copies of your participation cards for the entire term of your previous licence. This means 5 years worth of participation cards. We recommend that you do not dispose of participation records at any time. The club does not archive copies of your participation cards for future reference.

One class of handgun:

  • You must participate in a minimum of six (6) handgun competitions in that class.
  • I.e. Your absolute minimum would be six (6) competitions.

Two classes of handguns:

  • You must participate in a minimum of six (6) handgun competitions and these can be made up in one or both classes.
  • You must have a minimum of four (4) attendances in each class.
  • I.e. Your absolute minimum would be six (6) competitions and two (2) attendances. In other words a minimum of eight (8) shoots.

Three classes of handguns:

  • You must participate in a minimum of six (6) handgun competitions and these can be made up in one, two or all three classes.
  • You must have a minimum of four (4) attendances in each class.
  • I.e. Your absolute minimum would be six (6) competitions and six (6) attendances. In other words a minimum of twelve (12) shoots.

Four classes of handguns:

  • You must participate in a minimum of six (6) handgun competitions and these can be made up in one, two or more classes.
  • You must have a minimum of four (4) attendances in each class.
  • I.e. Your absolute minimum would be six (6) competitions and ten (10) attendances. In other words a minimum of sixteen (16) shoots.

Class C (High Calibre Handgun)

The only exception to the above is if you have two or more classes of hangun and one of these classes is a class c (high calibre handgun), then you must ensure that you have a minimum of four (4) competitions for that class as well as meeting the overall requirements for the number of classes held

Please Note

  • Only one attendance per day, regardless of class, may be counted for participation requirements.
  • The participation requirements only apply to the class or classes of handgun(s) that you own and not the number of handguns in each class.
  • Participation record cards must be completed each and every time you attend the range to shoot. This includes competition, practice and testing (class c).
