General Information
Rimfire Bushranger competitions are shot in the 200m Pistol Range.
The match will consist of 2 separate stages, each consisting of 4 strings of 6 targets. Each shooter may fire a maximum 6 rounds, although more can be loaded into their firearm.
Each stage will be limited to a fixed time as detailed below.
- The start position for each stage will depend on the barricade/obstacle in that lane, where practical it is pointed down range approximately 1m in front of the shooter, with trigger finger outside of the trigger guard.
- Shooters may use single-handed or two-handed shooting.
- Targets must be shot in order, left to right, with only one shot at each target, the shooter MUST move onto the next target whether the current target is hit or missed.
- After each string is shot, firearms are cleared, the range is closed & the targets are reset.
- After Stage 1 is completed (Strings 1 – 4) shooters swap to the next Detail of shooters who repeat Stage 1.
- Once all Details have completed Stage 1, Stage 2 (Strings 5-8) commences.
- Timings for the four strings are 16, 14, 12 and 10 seconds.

Firearms, Ammunition & Equipment
- Rimfire - Any .22 Class D handgun with at least 6 round capacity. (Only 6 rounds may be shot in each string)
- Only 1 magazine is required for each string. However, 4 is preferred as it keeps the shoot moving along.
- 48 rounds will be required to complete the full course of fire.
Maximum Attendance
The attendance limit for this competition is 32 competitors (4 details of 8).
Unlicensed Members
Unlicensed SSAA Brisbane Pistol Section Members may attend this competition under the following conditions:
- They have been signed off as competent in the same firearm type (Rimfire). Competency must be displayed to the Shoot Captain when signing on.
- They attend the shoot with a licensed member who will act as their supervisor and provide the firearm to be used
- A licensed member is permitted to bring a maximum of 1 unlicensed guest;
