General Information
The Pig & Plate competitions are held on the 200m Pistol Range. Competitors use centerfire handguns to engage steel targets at distances of 12, 25, and 37.5 meters, with a minimum of 54 rounds required. The event includes precision scoring, spotters for safety, and reloads tailored to revolvers or semi-automatics. Each shooter completes three rounds of 16 targets, aiming for a perfect score of 540 points. Separate scores are kept for iron sights and optics. Shooting starts at 7 PM and usually concludes by 9 PM.
Please ensure you familiarize yourself with the shoot format and range commands before attending.
Targets
- 54 steel targets at distances ranging from 12m to 37.5m.
Ammunition Required
- Centerfire: 9mm to .38 Special (Magnum loads are not suitable for night competition).
- Total: 54 rounds of ammunition.

Maximum Attendance
Attendance is capped at 28 competitors, as determined by the Shoot Captains.
Unlicensed Members
Unlicensed SSAA Brisbane Pistol Section members may participate in some regular competitions under these conditions:
- Competency: They must be signed off as competent with the relevant firearm type (Rimfire, Centerfire Revolver, or Centerfire Semi-Auto) and display this competency to the Shoot Captain at sign-on.
- Supervision:
- Must attend with a licensed member acting as their supervisor.
- The supervisor provides the firearm to be used.
- Each licensed member may supervise one unlicensed guest.
